NCRA membership year runs on a calendar year basis, January 1 through December 31. All of NCRA members are provided many benefits. Contact NCRA if you have additional membership questions.

MEMBER BENEFITS

Membership dues also help support NCRA's national and international advocacy activities for the cancer registry profession. These include:

  • Continually improving the certification process for cancer registrars.
  • Promotion of the importance of CTRs and the CTR credential.
  • Exhibiting at meetings of other health professionals demonstrating the level of knowledge and skills needed by cancer registrars, plus availability of employment opportunities and the financial recognition of cancer registry professionals. 
  • A Web site publicizing the cancer registry profession. 
  • Liaison representation to other professional organizations promotes the cancer registry profession and supports the interests of registrars.
  • Development and distribution of educational materials specific to the cancer registry profession.
  • Efforts to increase the number of Accredited Formal Education programs available in the cancer registry field.

  • Increase recognition of registrars via promotion of National Cancer Registrars Week

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
As a multidisciplinary organization, membership is open to all individuals involved with cancer registry activities.

Active — A person whose primary occupation is related to cancer registry work.

Associate — Anyone interested in the purpose of the association who does not meet the qualifications of active membership.

Inactive — A person who previously qualified as an active member but is no longer in the work force is eligible to be an inactive member. This category includes retirees, unemployed persons and persons on extended leave from their job.

Sustaining — Individuals, institutions or organizations interested in promoting the principles and purposes of NCRA.

Student — Anyone who is enrolled full-time in a college-level curriculum and is interested in NCRA's purpose but does not meet active membership requirements

International — Any person who is not a resident of a North American country. Persons residing outside of North America are not restricted to this membership classification. The reduced membership fee for this classification includes a subscription to "The Journal of Registry Management" and opportunities to network and benefit from shared technical information. Members in this classification may serve on a committee but may not vote, hold office or chair a committee.
