
The Journal of Registry Management is the official journal of NCRA. This peer-reviewed journal publishes
papers on topics related to the management of health registries and the collection, management and use of
cancer, trauma, AIDS and other health registry data. The Journal of Registry Management is published 4 times
a year. All NCRA members receive a complimentary subscription.

HOW TO SUBMIT ARTICLES
Information for Authors
The JRM seeks original manuscripts on Registry methodology or research findings related to the subjects
below and associated topics.
Topic:
1. Using surveillance data to support public health program assessment, design, and evaluation
2. Cluster investigations: statistical techniques, role of GIS, or meta-analyses
3. Quality assurance: general protocols, re-abstraction techniques, assessment methods, and/or
evaluation
4. Methods for presentation and dissemination of birth defects data
5. Program methodology: role of advisory committees, model legislation, methods for planning and evaluation,
and/or prenatal and stillborn surveillance
Manuscripts should be accompanied by a cover letter including the names, addresses, and telephone numbers
or email addresses of at least two potential reviewers uninvolved with the current work who might be willing
to provide an objective and unbiased review. Manuscripts should have internal clearance, if required for
agency submission.. Manuscripts may come from a single state, or from collaborative efforts and activities,
including both multi-state and international collaborations.

Manuscripts of the following types may be submitted for publication:
- Methodology articles addressing topics of broad interest and appeal
to the readership, including methodological aspects of Registry
organization
and operation.
- Research articles reporting findings of original, reviewed,
data-based research.
- Primers providing basic and comprehensive tutorials on relevant
subjects.
- “How I Do It” articles providing tips, techniques, or procedures for
an aspect of Registry operations that the author does particularly
well. The
“How I Do It” feature offers Registrars an informal forum for sharing
strategies with colleagues in all types of Registries.
- Opinion papers / editorials including position papers, commentaries,
essays, and interviews that analyze current or controversial issues and
provide creative, reflective treatments of topics related to Registry
management.
- Bibliographies that are specifically targeted and of significant
interest.
- Letters to the editor.
Contributed manuscripts are peer-reviewed prior to publication.

Each issue of the Journal of Registry Management contains an alternative method
