NCRA’s 42nd Annual Educational Conference (NCRA 2016) will be held April 10-13, 2016, at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. The program has been designed to keep registrars up-to-date with advancements and changes in the field and to ensure the transition from Collaborative Stage to AJCC TNM Stage and NCI-SEER Summary Stage goes smoothly. Attendees can earn up to 18 CEs in three days! NCRA is also offering poster sessions in 2016 to provide attendees additional opportunities to learn how cancer registry data impact public health and what’s new in the industry. SEER 2016: Advanced Topics for Registry Professionals

Saturday and Sunday, April 9–10, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

SEER’s Advanced Topics for Registry Professionals Workshop is divided into two days. Saturday’s workshop will focus on central registry topics; Sunday’s workshop will concentrate on general registry issues. Attendees will expand knowledge, build expertise and confidence in the areas of TNM data consolidation, central registry operations, edits, new initiatives in quality control methods, SEER tools and updates, treatment data, and staging resources. Participants may register for day one, day two, or both days. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited; no meals will be provided.

 

Concurrent Workshop

Fundamentals of Abstracting

Monday and Tuesday, April 11–12, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, and Wednesday, April 13, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM

The Fundamentals of Abstracting Workshop is intended for new registrars and will focus on the concepts of quality abstracting and data reporting practices. The agenda provides hands-on experiences and interactive exercises using patient cases, resource materials, manuals, and databases to provide the participant opportunities to experience a variety of basic and complex abstracting exercises. The faculty will provide a theoretical basis for the tasks and activities associated with abstracting and a comprehensive and thorough review of the topics most important to abstractors. Pre-work, including completing case studies and participating in a pre-workshop webinar, is required.

 

Who Should Attend the Fundamentals of Abstracting Workshop?

The Fundamentals of Abstracting Workshop is suitable for cancer registry employees with between six months and two years of experience. Attendees should have knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. The workshop is considered a basic course and is not eligible for CE credits.

CTR Exam Prep Workshop

Thursday, April 14, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

The CTR Exam Prep Workshop is a one-day rigorous training experience for those preparing to take the CTR exam in the summer and fall exam periods. Faculty will focus exclusively on the open-book portion of the exam and provide a thorough review of resources and offer hands-on case studies to help candidates prepare for the exam. Faculty: Donna Gress, RHIT, CTR.

 

Training Workshop for NPCR’s Education and Training Coordinators

Thursday, April 14; 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

The NPCR Training Workshop for Education and Training Coordinators (ETCs) is an invitation-only event. Details will be e-mailed to invited participants.

NCRA has negotiated a single/double sleeping room rate of $104, including in-room Wi-Fi. Hotel Deposit Information

A deposit of one night room and tax will be required to guarantee the reservation. The guarantee can be made by credit card or personal check in the amount of the first night’s room and tax. Hotel confirmations will be sent directly from the hotel via e-mail. If one needs to cancel a reservation, please obtain a cancellation number. If the reservation is not cancelled at least 14 days prior to arrival and a cancellation number is not obtained, a “no-show” fee of one-night’s room and tax will be assessed.

Annual State Associations Basket Raffle
