The virtual Fundamentals of Abstracting Workshop is for cancer registry staff with between six months and two years of experience who want to enhance their abstracting skills. Attendees are required to have knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. The workshop sessions are scheduled over four days from 12:00 PM ET to 4:00 PM ET to allow the faculty to dive deep into their specialties. They will provide a comprehensive and thorough review of important topics as outlined in the agenda below. Pre-work, including completing case studies for each day, is required. The workshop is focused on the basics of abstracting; therefore, not eligible for continuing education (CE) credits.

Virtual CTR Exam Prep Workshop: Hands-On Strategies for the Open-Book Section

(This virtual workshop will be offered again in September.)
Presented over the course of two days in three-hour sessions, the virtual CTR Exam Prep Workshop is a rigorous training experience for those preparing to take the CTR exam in 2021. Using case studies, the presenter will focus exclusively on the open-book portion of the CTR exam and provide a thorough review of abstracting and coding methodologies, which account for one-third of the tested material. Registrants are required to complete preworkshop case scenarios.
