Informatics is the science of gathering, manipulating, storing, retrieving, and classifying recorded information. It is the study of the structure, behavior, and interactions of natural and engineered computational systems. Informatics studies the representation, processing, and communication of information in natural and engineered systems. There are several different Informatics disciplines. NCRA is focused in on those involved in healthcare:

• Healthcare/Biomedical Informatics
• Clinical Informatics
• Public Health Informatics
• Bioinformatics

InFUNmatics: The Cancer Registrar’s Guide to Cancer Registry Informatics 
View the 2022 NCRA Annual Conference session entitled InFUNmatics: The Cancer Registrar’s Guide to Cancer Registry Informatics. The panel presentation focused on the increasing demands placed on cancer registrars for additional variables and faster reporting to the state registries and the NCDB. To that end, registrars are increasing the use of informatics to meet the data demand. The panelists focus on the latest technological innovations, such as Natural Language Processing, that are being leveraged to capture real time data and its benefits for the cancer registrar. In addition, the panelists reviewed the future role of the registrar as EHR data becomes more and more structured. View the Recorded Session.
