The Distinguished Member Award honors an NCRA member for outstanding contributions to the profession, encouraging in members the desire to contribute to the development and growth of the profession and furthering public awareness of the scope and importance of the profession.

CRITERIA

Candidates must have made outstanding contributions to the profession in more than one of the following ways: service to NCRA, outstanding achievement in professional practice, leadership in education, and contributions through research or published materials. Nominees must hold the ODS credential and contributions must be evident in more than one of the following areas:

  • Local association participation, including serving as an officer, director, committee chair, and/or committee member.
  • National participation in NCRA through multiple roles, including serving on the board or on committees and task forces.
  • Professional achievement as evidenced in one or more of the following areas:
    • Development or refinement of professional theory and/or techniques.
    • Dissemination of knowledge of practice through consultation to others in the field.
    • Recognized resource person in a specialty area.
  • Conducting research and publishing in at least one or more of the following areas:
    • Publication of written material in reference manuals or journal articles.
    • Publication of written material as monographs, instructional guides, position papers, or books.
  • Education leadership as evidenced in at least one or more of the following areas:
    • Presenter or co-presenter at local, state, regional or national workshops, meetings, seminars, or conferences.
  • Other contributions to the profession.
  • Contributions to society through religious, civic, or other community volunteer activities.
