Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

April 3, 2020

NCRA is working closely with Disney on next steps for the 2020 conference. We ask for patience as we are sure members are mindful that these decisions are complex. NCRA will make an announcement by April 17.

March 25, 2020

NCRA is continuing to stay in touch with Disney regarding our annual conference. Even though the Disney Orlando Hotels are on a temporary closure, the Disney convention staff are still working and coordinating with us. We will provide further updates related to the NCRA Conference or other NCRA business as warranted. At this point, there are no new updates on the annual conference or NCRA business.

Completion of the 160-Hour Practicum and the CTR Exam
Completion of the 160-Hour Practicum and the CTR Exam NCRA understands some Route A students planning to take the CTR exam during the summer testing window are concerned about completing the required practicum hours before the application deadline, since many facilities have closed in response to COVID-19. In addition, we understand these students are concerned about taking the exam during the fall testing cycle, citing the long time between completing current coursework and practicum hours and the fall exam dates. NCRA and PSI are committed to finding solutions and will have a more detailed update at the end of April.

March 13, 2020

While all Orlando Disney Hotels and Resorts remain open and there are no cases of COVID19 at any property or park, the Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks has implemented precautionary measures for the remaining month of March to ensure the safety of guests and staff. The theme parks will temporarily close beginning March 16 through the end of the month.

NCRA is in continual contact with Disney, and we are monitoring the situation closely. Since our conference is scheduled two and a half months from now, May 31-June 3, we are moving forward with our planning.

March 12, 2020

NCRA continues to monitor all aspects of COVID19. We are aware that some hospitals and hospital systems have instituted policies that are limiting travel for individuals through April 2020. We have not seen any that limit travel in late May or June – dates that would impact NCRA’s annual conference. Because COVID 19 is such an unknown, it is hard to predict what is next or where we might be a month from now. Because of those unknowns, coupled with no policies limiting travel into May or June, we are continuing to press ahead with plans to deliver our conference in Orlando. We will continue to provide updates as more information comes forward as it relates to NCRA's conference.

March 3, 2020

NCRA is, of course, monitoring updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and will implement any guidelines that the CDC recommends.

The Walt Disney Company is also carefully monitoring the situation and is in close contact with health agencies for information and guidance. They will continue to adjust their operations according to the recommendations of health authorities as the situation develops. Policies and procedures for hygiene and safety at the parks and resorts at Walt Disney World can be found at https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/parks/health-and-hygiene.
